Syflex allows to create realistic cloth animations. It computes the
motion of the cloth by applying on it forces, constraints and collisions.
The process of animating a cloth is fairly simple: convert a polygonal mesh to a cloth. Apply gravity and air damping. Add collisions with the body of the character. Then just let the simulator compute smoothly the animation. Syflex implements an extremely fast and accurate solver. It also gives all the necessary controls to easily animate any material: cotton, silk or leather. Its perfectly stable algorithm lets you animate characters performing any slow or fast action: walking, running, dancing, jumping ... No special skills are required to use Syflex: there is no need to cut flat panels and stitch them together. Any polygonal object can be used. Syflex is seamlessly integrated in Maya: any cloth, force or contraint can be selected in the 3D window, the hypergraph or the outliner. The hypergraph clearly shows which force, constraint or collision is applied on the cloth In addition to allowing you animate t-shirts, skirts, jackets or pants, Syflex can also be used to animate many other kinds of flexible objects: curtains, sheets, even hair. |
