PFX3D on SUBDIVISION SURFACE WORKFLOW

In MAYA 3.0 you cannot paint PFX3D tools on SUBDIVISION SURFACE .

But you can map textures on the attributs of shaders assigned to a subdiv shape.

You can Paint on polygone shape. So you try that :

  1. Select subdiv shape
  2. Assign it a shader
  3. SubdivSurface->Tesselate (tesselation Method adaptative, division per face 1)
  4. Move in the space this polygonale copy
  5. Select this copy and do Edit->Delete by type ->history
  6. Don't use a map of projection in this case
  7. Paint in 3d on this object : Lightning/Shading ->Paint texture tools :

Because you have the same shader for poly and subdiv, the painting shader is updated on

the subdiv surf.
